The European Union's anti-piracy force (EU NAVFOR) stated on Wednesday that th North Korean cargo ship MV Rim had been hijacked by Somali pirates off the Yemeni coasts and north of the Internationally Recommended Transit Corridor (IRTC).  

No information has been disclosed officially on the nature of the cargo so far as the ship wasn’t registered with the EU NAVFOR’s Maritime Security Centre Horn of Africa (MSC HOA). Two U.S. warships and a helicopter form tha NATO Combined Task Force 151 are however monitoring the situation. The ship, which belongs to White Sea Shipping Libyan company, is now reportedly heading towards the Somali Basin.
